We’re big fans of FNB’s eBucks at Stuff. Not only is it a life-saver for those dedicated enough to play by its rules, but it’s often looking for new ways to innovate and improve itself for customers. That’s evidenced by the bank’s latest partnership with Spar, the grocery retailer.
Eligible customers — FNB Private Clients, Private Wealth and RMB clients — who use their virtual cards at any Spar, KwikSpar, Tops or SuperSpar can earn up to 15% back in eBucks. This is the part we might’ve thrown a little joke in, but we’re out of those today. It’s simply grand.
Getting the full Spar treatment
According to Zamabomvu Ngubane, head of FNB eBucks Rewards (via Moneyweb): “South Africans are feeling the economic strain, and within our affluent customer segments, we continue to see the real impact of eBucks in catering to the needs of our clients and enabling them to stretch their rands even further.”
“Our challenging economy, coupled with the increased cost of living, informed our decision to expand the catalogue of eBucks rewards grocery partners and benefits. Our reward programme has been designed to be an integral part of our clients’ monthly budgets as they supplement their household expenses,” she adds.
The partnership is joining the likes of FNB’s mainstays — Engen, Checkers, Shoprite, Takealot, iStore, Le Creuset, and Clicks. Like all the rest of eBucks’ partnerships, customers using virtual cards will collect the bulk of the rewards, while customers shopping with their physical cards will only be eligible to earn 0.5-1% of their total spend back in eBucks.

If you’re still whipping out a physical card for everything, we’d advise changing that. Soon. FNB’s got a handy explainer video to help you get started with virtual cards. Once it’s all setup, you’ll need to head to the FNB/RMB Private Bank App (depending on your account details), visit ‘Earn‘, ‘Earn more eBucks‘, ‘Groceries spend total’ before you can find the ‘Locate Partner‘ option.
We’ve included FNB’s table below to show how much you can earn based on your current reward level when shopping at Spar, SuperSpar, KwikSpar, and Tops:
